FILM POSTER: pitching ideas for poster

our film is a drama, we wanted to get this genre across to the audience. so i decided to make the chatacters look realisitc. this gave me the idea that the chatacters should wear normal clothes so that a sense of realism could be created. also in our film poster we wanted to give hints to the audience of the relationship of between the characters in the film.

so for the younger brother we placed him in the foreground and the older brother in the bakground. this tells the audience that the younger brother has a big part to play in the film, and this will effect the older brother in a negative way as his body langugae in the background is agitated. we got this idea from the "Guess who" poster.

these are some of the taglines we had for our film poster

"trouble lurks around the corner"

" worst than all your fears"

" all your dreams will not come true"

FILM POSTER: Analysing conventions of film posters

I researched other film posters. and i realised the conventions used in a film poster is a catchy large, title which attracts the eye
bold colours which stand out from the background,
an intriguing picture which would attract viewers to the film.
persuasive language which might persuade the viewers to go and see the film.
and the age of certificate which assures the right type of people are watching the film.

An example of how a film posters uses conventions to attact their target audience. (in this case it could be for sci fi fans) woud be the images on the film poster will be futuristic and mysterious e.g a picture of a spaceship a robot or new technology.

FILM:Introduction

Our task was to produce Film approximately five minutes long. And in those 5 minutes we had to use large variety of camera angles, sound, mis-en-scene, lighting and editing. to show thought and analysis. The other necessities we had to take in account were the

·Working Title
What the name of our film is going to be.

·Audience
How old they are, whether they are predominately going to be male or female, the lifestyle of the audience, and the social demographic of the audience.

·Broadcast space
Where are film is most likely to be distributed youtube, facebook, myspace.,

·Genre
Is our film going to be a drama, comedy, horror?

· Plot
This is very important, as it is the storyline of the film.

·Pitch
This is the whole idea of our film.

FILM:Researching into other short films

To get ideas for my film i researched other films, i decided my film should be in a house because the lighting is easy to control, the location is familiar with all of our group. we wanted to make our film as realisitc as possible. And on youtube i found an episode on Mr bean.

by watching the Mr Bean episode which is about him having trouble sleeping. Trouble Sleeping we decided that our film should be based on sleep, because we can easily build ideas on top of it one example of this. could be adding ditractions to someone's sleep ,such as noise. In the Mr bean video the sound of the Dogs barking was recorded on tape and played back.

FILM:Developing a pitch

Originally in our idea we decided that there should be only one actor because it is easier to film and we can add in many senarios as only one person is going to be involved also the title should be Bad Night's Sleep. Our film was supposed to consist of the older brother going having trouble sleeping thorught the night he has an exam the in the afternoon the following day due to the fact the the older brother is restless throughout the night he misses his exam.
After some discussion in our group we decided that there should be two actors instead of one we decided to use two actors as using one character seems to limit our film. which is why we added in the younger brother so that we can see a diffrent side to the characters.

FILM:Storyboarding

The majority of our film was not dependent on storyboarding . most of our film was down to improvisation,We chose to use this, because improvisation gives us the freedom to experiment footage and bring all our ideas for our film to existence. We also found improvisation more pratical, because we can consider other factors that will affect the scene such as the enviromnent and lighting.
